CSU Battles Denver To Dual Match Draw

The Rams and Pioneers each win two matches and halved at No. 5
BREMERTON, Wash. – Colorado State's men's golf team battled throughout the entire afternoon of match play with Denver and the two squads ended with a 2.5-2.5 tie. The dual match took place at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., this year's site of the Mountain West men's golf championship.

The Rams took victories at No. 2 and No. 4, as freshman Jack Ainscough defeated Denver's Jackson Solem, 5&3 and senior Max Oelfke handled Isaac Petersilie, 4&3. Denver won at No. 1 and No. 3, with sophomore AJ Ott falling to Chris Korte and junior Jake Staiano losing to the Pioneers' Eric Hagen, each by a 3&1 score. The No. 5 match came down to the final hole and ended up halved, as freshman Parathakorn Suyasri battled with Denver's John Sand to the tie.

The Rams next compete at the Oregon Duck Invitational, March 26-27. The nationally-renowned two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Oregon, will be played at Eugene Country Club (Par 71- 7,020 yards) in Eugene, Ore. CSU will tee off in the first two rounds, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. PDT shotgun start and opening on holes 1-4 with playing partners Oregon, Saint Mary's (Calif.) and Arizona.
