Rams earn postseason bid for first time since 2003 with NISC

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team is headed to the postseason for the first time since 2003. The Rams will stay in the state of Colorado and travel the 30 miles to host Northern Colorado for the 2018 National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC).
Colorado State was part of a 17-team field for the NISC, now in its second year. The Rams will face South Dakota State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. MT in the first round. Host Northern Colorado will play later that evening against Loyola Marymount at 6 p.m. MT
The regional champion will advance to a final double-elimination play May 23-26 at a site TBA.
The National Invitational Softball Championship is operated, supervised and directed by Triple Crown Sports, a sports event company based in Fort Collins, Colorado, in collaboration with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. This marks the second year of the tournament, which features eight teams that have won 30 games or more during the 2018 season and six teams that finished second or better during the regular season in their respective conferences.
