Rams’ Shadae Lawrence named Mountain West Athlete of the Week

Lawrence debuted for Colorado State with the nation’s No. 4 discus mark at the Fum McGraw Open
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State senior Shadae Lawrence has been named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The conference announced its weekly track & field honors on Tuesday.
Lawrence made her debut for Colorado State at the Fum McGraw Open on Saturday, winning the event with a mark of 186-3 (56.78m). The senior's performance currently ranks fourth in the NCAA and is tops in the Mountain West by 16 feet. Historically speaking, Lawrence's debut ranks fifth on each of the Mountain West's all-time outdoor list and Colorado State's all-time outdoor list.
The St. Catherine, Jamaica native begins her senior campaign with the Rams after three First-Team All-America performances, including a national title, a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships and a fourth-place NCAA finish in the discus. Her personal best of 205-4.25 (62.59m) is the best of any current NCAA athlete by over four feet.
The Colorado State track & field team returns to action next week at the Stanford Invitational and the Tom Benich Invitational. The former is held on Friday and Saturday in Stanford, Calif., while the latter is contested on Saturday in Greeley, Colo.
