Colorado State vs. Nevada – POSTGAME NOTES
Oct. 14, 2017 | Sonny Lubick Field at CSU Stadium | Fort Collins, Colo.
Colorado State 44, Nevada 42

GENERAL
  • Tonight's game was CSU's first at home since beating Abilene Christian, 38-10, on Sept. 9.
  • The game was CSU's first on-campus homecoming game since Oct. 21, 1967 (a 17-14 win over Utah State at Colorado Field). The Rams played the last 49 seasons (1968-2016 at Hughes Stadium, 3 miles west of campus).
  • This was the second time CSU has played Nevada for Homecoming:
    • Oct. 19, 1974 at Hughes Stadium, a 66-17 CSU win
  • It was also the first night game played on campus since the 1966 season.
  • CSU is 3-0 in MW play for the first time since 2002 (started 6-0). The Rams won the MW in 2002, their last league title.
  • CSU leads the Mountain Division of the MW with a 3-0 record (Boise State and Wyoming are 2-0). Only two MW teams are 3-0 (CSU and Fresno State).
ATTENDANCE
  • Tonight's attendance was 36,765, which ranks fourth all-time at CSU
    • 1.  39,107--Oct. 22, 1994, vs. Utah
    • 2.  38,129--Oct. 3, 1987, vs. Colorado
    • 3.  37,583--Aug. 26, 2017, vs. Oregon State
    • 4.  36,765--Oct. 14, 2017, vs. Nevada
  • This was the second sellout of the season and the third game of 2017 for which Colorado State sold all tickets for a game. The opening game at the new stadium Aug. 26 vs. Oregon State was a sellout (37,583) and CSU sold all of its ticket allotment for the Sept. 1 Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver vs. Colorado (32,727). All seats for the next home game, Oct. 28 vs. Air Force, have sold out (standing-room tickets remain available).
  • After going 10 years without a sold-out game, from 2004-2014 (Last: Oct. 22, 2004, vs. Wyoming), the Rams have sold out seven of their last 19 home games:
    • Oct. 18, 2014, Utah State, 32,546
    • Oct. 25, 2014, Wyoming, 32,529
    • Sept. 12, 2015, Minnesota, 32,500
    • Oct. 17, 2015, Air Force, 32,546
    • Oct. 1, 2016, Wyoming, 33,500
    • Aug. 26, 2017, Oregon State, 37,583
    • Oct. 14, 2017, Nevada, 36,765
TEAM
  • CSU had 608 yards of total offense, marking the third time this year the team has had 600+ yards, and fourth time in the last 8 games, dating back to last season. The Rams have exceeded 500 yards of total offense five times this season and 14 times under Head Coach Mike Bobo and Offensive Coordinator Will Friend.
  • The Rams scored a touchdown on their opening drive of the game, marking the third game in a row—and fourth in the last five—the team has done so. The drive was capped by a 56-yard TD pass from Nick Stevens to Michael Gallup, and took 1:26 (4 plays, 75 yards) – the second-quickest scoring drive of the year for CSU.
  • Two of CSU's four longest plays from scrimmage of the season came in tonight's game:
  • CSU is 3-0 at home this season at its new stadium. The Rams have won six consecutive home games, nine of their last 10 and are 19-4 over their last 23 home outings.
  • The Rams' offensive line did not allow a sack for the fifth consecutive game, and for the sixth time in seven games this season. CSU's o-line has allowed only two sacks all year, both versus Colorado (Sept. 1). Entering the day, CSU ranked fourth in the NCAA for fewest sacks allowed.
  • In addition, the Rams allowed just one tackle-for-loss to a Nevada team that came into the game ranked sixth in FBS with an average of 8.3 TFLs per game.
  • CSU's two-point margin of victory was the narrowest scoring margin in any game it has played since a 33-31 win at UTSA on Sept. 26, 2015, a span of 28 games.
INDIVIDUAL
  • WR Michael Gallup finished with a career-high-tying 13 receptions for a career-high 263 yards. He also tied his career high with 3 TDs (3rd time; most games in school history with 3 or more TDs). It's the second time he's eclipsed 200 yards receiving this season and the third time in his career. It's also the fourth time he's surpassed 100 yards receiving this season and the 10th time in his career.

    • He moved to seventh all time in receiving yards (2,220 over 20 games played, 111.0 per game avg.)
    • He is now tied for fifth all-time in receiving TDs with 19 (Paul Turner, 1993-97)
    • After 7 games, Gallup's numbers compared to Rashard Higgins' All-America and school-record season in 2014:

    • His night included a 59-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to cut into Nevada's 11-point lead. It was two yards short of the longest run of his career (61-yd TD at Air Force, 11/12/16).

    • Stevens has 59 career TD passes, ranking second at CSU, five behind Garrett Grayson's 64 (2011-14)
