Women’s Swimming and Diving (1987 to 1990)
Amy Brookover-Keen is among one of the finest swimmers of the late 1980s and set the bar for CSU swimming as a two-time All-American. A 1986 graduate of Denver’s Kennedy High School, Brookover-Keen won her first individual High Country Athletic Conference championship as a freshman in 1987 for the 100-meter backstroke. In that same year she was a member of relay teams that won the HCAC championships in the 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free and 400 freestyle. From 1988 to 1990, Brookover-Keen won five more individual HCAC championships, was on eight relay teams which won championships and helped CSU win two team conference championships in 1987 and 1990. She was also named to the 1989 and 1990 All-America teams; the first women’s swimmer at CSU to be named to two All-American teams.Â
Brookover-Keen made her school proud in 1990 setting the nation’s fastest time in the Husker Invitational for the 50-yard freestyle. She also earned the Sportswomen of Colorado Female Athlete of the year award in 1988, 89 and 90. She was named the Colorado Collegiate Swimmer of the Year in 1989 and 1990.Â
