Football (1995 to 1998)

Anthony Cesario remains as one of the greatest offensive linemen in CSU history and the first Ram offensive lineman to be named All-American in two consecutive seasons. The guard from Pueblo South High School played sparingly after his redshirt freshman season of 1995, but by 1996 he began to make strides on the Rams offense. After a stellar 1997 season, The Sporting News named him to the second-team All-America and he was a nominee for the Outland Trophy. In 1998 he was a pre-season selection for the Lombardi Trophy, and after being named to the first team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association, he made the finalist list for the Lombardi Trophy. He started 37 consecutive games for the Rams and was named first-team All-WAC in both 1997 and 1998. He helped guide the 1997 team to a conference championship with 64 pancake blocks in the Rams’ 11-2 season.

Following his CSU career, Cesario was taken in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, 88thoverall in the 1999 draft. He played one season in Jacksonville and four seasons with the Miami Dolphins before ending his NFL career in 2003. After his pro football career, Cesario owned and operated Work Zone Traffic Control in Fort Collins. On September 25, 2010, Cesario unexpectedly died at his home in Fort Collins at the age of 34.
