Football (1992 to 1995)

Brady Smith’s playing career at CSU began with two seasons of injury following his redshirt year of 1991 and ended with him becoming the school’s all-time career leader in quarterback sacks. Smith, an all-conference high school player out of Barrington, Ill., broke his arm after two games of the 1992 season and then broke his leg midway through the 1993 season. However, in 1994 Smith exploded, and along with Sean Moran, the duo became the most potent defensive tandem at CSU since Al “Bubba” Baker and Mike Bell in the 1970s. Smith and Moran combined for 44.5 quarterback sacks, with Smith recording 28.5 of those to establish the school record which held until 1999. Smith left with the school record for single-season quarterback sacks at 16 and recorded four sacks in one game in 1995. In 1995, Smith was honored as the WAC defensive player of the year.

Following his CSU career, Smith was chosen in the third round as the 70th-overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He spent four seasons in New Orleans and six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons concluding his 10-year NFL career in 2005. Smith recorded 45 career sacks and 136 tackles in the NFL.
