Dr. Albert Yates, president of Colorado State University from 1990 to 2003, played a vital role in the emergence of the Rams athletic program. Dr. Yates provided leadership and support for the University as well as the Department of Athletics during his 13-year tenure as the school’s 12th President. Yates is credited with spearheading the formation of the Mountain West and banded with other school presidents to separate from the Western Athletic Conference after the 1998-1999 school year. Yates also helped lead the drive to build the McGraw Athletic Center and make improvements to Moby Arena.
