1999

Dr. Albert Yates, president of Colorado State University from 1990 to 2003, played a vital role in the emergence of the Rams athletic program. Dr. Yates provided leadership and support for the University as well as the Department of Athletics during his 13-year tenure as the school’s 12^thPresident. Yates is credited with spearheading the formation of the Mountain West and banded with other school presidents to separate from the Western Athletic Conference after the 1998-1999 school year. Yates also helped lead the drive to build the McGraw Athletic Center and make improvements to Moby Arena.
