Harry Troxell helped Colorado State University athletics grow and expand from the moment he stepped foot on the Colorado A&M campus in 1947. A graduate of Duke University, Troxell came to Colorado A&M as the dean of the faculty with no intention of working with athletics. However, once he met coach Bob Davis, he was made an assistant on the freshman football team for two seasons. From that moment onward, Troxell helped CSU athletics as the faculty representative and the school’s NCAA representative serving on multiple boards. He was instrumental with the design and construction of Hughes Stadium and Moby Arena, along with lobbying to get CSU into the Western Athletic Conference. Two of his sons lettered in CSU athletics along with a son-in-law.

A veteran of WWII serving for 52 months in the US Navy, Harry Troxell was a professor of wood science and technology at CSU during his career. He retired in 1983 and died at the age of 63 in 1984.
