Erik Pears
- Induction:
- 2023
- Class:
- 2005
Football: 2001-04
Erik Pears followed his older brother Morgan onto the CSU football team and became part of the backbone of the 2002 MW championship team. In 2003 and 2004, Pears earned first team all-conference honors, the fast Ram offensive lineman to be a two-time first-team honoree since Anthony Cesario – a CSU Hall of Famer – did so in the WAC in 1998 and 1997. Pears' 2003 team set a school record for total yards and ranked No. 2 in yards per game, first downs, and passing yards. During his career, Pears' Rams went to three bowl games. While statistics are difficult for offensive linemen, Pears showed his talents by being selected to play on the 2004 East-West Shrine team and in the 2004 Gridiron Classic. The Denver Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent, and he spent 11 seasons with five different teams in the NFL.
