Women’s Basketball (1996 to 1999)
Katie Cronin played basketball at CSU with an aggressive style that helped her and the Rams win games like never before. A 1995 graduate of Horizon High School in Thornton, Colo., Cronin immediately made an impact on the women’s basketball program. During her four-year career, Cronin was a member of three conference championship teams and was selected as a first team All-WAC member three consecutive years. Cronin was named to two honorable mention Kodak All-American teams in 1998 and 1999, along with being named an honorable mention for the 1999 AP All-American team. She and her teammates went 17-0 at home and 33-3 overall in the amazing 1999 season which saw the first women’s basketball team play in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.Â
After graduation in 2000, Cronin went on to professional basketball playing in Europe and later in the NWBL for the Colorado Chill. In 2007, Cronin briefly played for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA and after playing in Portugal in 2008, retired from all basketball. She continues to coach youth basketball and works for a communication company in Denver.Â
