Track and Field (1994 to 1999)
Marne Findlay-Richardson came to CSU from Ponderosa High School originally as a swimmer and established school records in cross country and track during the late 1990s. A rotator cuff injury forced her to switch to distance running early in her career, and by 1996 she had earned her first All-American award in cross country, finishing 13th nationally. In 1997 Richardson battled a brain tumor, but bounced back from her illness by winning the WAC title for 5,000 meters in 1997 and led her team to a 12th-place finish in the NCAA Championships. She was named the Colorado Sportswoman of the year in 1998.Â
When she was inducted into the hall of fame in 2013, Richardson still ranked in the top five in school history for the 5,000 meters. She also earned academic all-conference all four years of her career.
