Men’s Golf (2000 to 2004)
A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Martin Laird is the first men’s golfer to be inducted into the CSU Athletic Hall of Fame after a remarkable career. Laird earned two All-American awards in 2003 and 2004, becoming the first men’s golfer in school history to earn that honor. He was a three-time All-Mountain West honoree and four-time academic All-MW. Laird’s performance helped lead the Rams to the NCAA regional all four years he competed. Laird graduated with the CSU records for single-season scoring average, national ranking and the top career counting percentage. He was the first CSU golfer to win the annual Nye Trophy.
After graduating from CSU in 2004, Laird began his professional golf career and has been a regular on the PGA Tour since 2007. He has six career PGA Tour wins, including a two-stroke victory over Rory McIlroy at the 2013 Valero Texas Open. He and his wife Meagan live in Scottsdale, Arizona and as of 2019 remains on the pro tour.
