Mary Harrington came to Colorado State University in the fall of 1975 and had an accomplished record in track and field along with academic achievements. In 1976 and 1977, Harrington placed in the top 10 in the pentathlon at the National AIAW Championships. She also won the 1977 WAC championship in the high jump and was a member of the USA pentathlon team which competed against the USSR and Canada in the summer of 1977. Harrington earned academic honors while at CSU and also worked as an assistant trainer.Â
After she graduated from CSU with honors in 1979, Harrington continued to compete nationally and internationally until 1985. She taught at Montana State University and later worked for the Nike Corporation. In 1988 she became the US Olympic Committee Manager of Operations for the Olympic Festivals and later worked as a coach and administrator for the USOC.
