Track and Field (1993 to 1996)
Mattias Borrman transferred from the University of Nevada-Reno on the suggestion of CSU legend Del Hessel. A native of Sweden, Borrman excelled in the throwing events setting 13 school records in the javelin, shot, hammer and 35lb weight. Borrman was a five-time competitor at the NCAA national championships and seven-time NCAA championship qualifier. He was named to seven All-WAC teams during the four years he competed.
One year after graduation, Borrman married former teammate and 2004 CSU Hall of Fame inductee Shelly Greathouse. He returned to his native Sweden where he won the Swedish National Championship for the discus in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2003. Borrman has also been a volunteer coach for CSU track and remains in Fort Collins to help with the javelin team.Â
