Softball (1994 to 1997)
Nikki Johnson set a new standard for pitchers at CSU during her four years on the Rams softball team. She earned second-team All-American in 1997 with a season record of 33-7 during the Rams’ WAC championship year when the team went 51-14 and within an out of the College World Series. When Johnson concluded her career, she held the school record for career strikeouts (493), shutouts (20), ERA (1.77), innings pitched (616.2), complete games (81) and games started (82). A graduate of Hinkley High School in Aurora, Johnson first attended Georgia Tech before transferring to CSU in her freshman season. Her 271 strikeouts in the 1997 season established one of many single-season records she set in her career.
At the National Invitational Softball Tournament in 1997, Johnson was named the MVP. During the 1997 season she led the WAC in strikeouts and was named to the All-WAC first team as a pitcher.
After graduation, Nikki Johnson-Gregory was married, working and living in Aurora, Colo.Â
