Men’s Basketball (1986 to 1989)
Pat Durham ranked as the school’s all-time leader in points scored at 1,980 and rebounds (851), field goals made (705), field goal attempts (1,378), free throw attempts (816) and free throws made (569) at the end of his Rams' career. Durham ranks as one of the all-time greatest basketball players in school history and is also responsible for helping Boyd Grant rebuild the Rams to attend the NIT and NCAA Tournaments. Durham’s efforts in 1989 helped CSU win the school’s first WAC championship in basketball. Pat Durham also is the only basketball player to receive the coveted Nye Award twice, and after leading the Rams to a third-place finish in the 1988 NIT Tournament, he was named to the All-NIT team.Â
After graduation, Durham went on to the NBA to play two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks. In 1996, Durham played professionally in Europe and retired from basketball after the 2007 season.Â
