Women’s Golf (1978 to 1981)
Susan Knox became the first national phenomenon in women’s golf at Colorado State University during the 1980 and 1981 golf season. A native of Westminster, Colo., Knox hit her stride during her junior year when she began winning tournaments in Cheyenne and Sterling and was named as the Colorado Sportswoman of the year in 1980. In 1981, Knox captured her second all-regional honors and was named as an All-American after winning the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Division II National Championship. She also led her CSU team to a fourth-place finish in the national tournament.Â
Following graduation, Knox came in second place for the 1982 AIAW Division II National Championship. She later moved to Longmont and married golfer Brian Jennings. She coached golf at St. Vrain High School and remains involved with golf around Colorado. In 2009, she became the assistant coach of women’s golf at CSU and took over has head coach for the 2012-13 season.Â
