CSU Swimmers Compete at Rice

The Colorado State swimming and diving team finished competition in day one of the Hilton Plaza/TYR Rice Invitational in Houston, Tex. on Friday with six top five finishes including four by freshmen swimmers.

CSU freshman Abi Iler recorded a second-place finish in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:35.56 while posting a third-place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly (58.37) earning the team a total of 25 points in the two events.

Freshman Tara Staley continued her strong season coming in third in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:08.44) while fellow frosh Chandra Engs came in fourth in the event (5:10.91).

Engs was also a member of CSU's fourth-place 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team along with Alina Roberts, Brette Winegarner and Liz Jones.

Junior Alyson Aggers rounded out the Ram top-five finishers with a third-place showing in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:23.85.

The Rams will conclude play in Houston on Saturday beginnig at 11 a.m. CT.
