Swimmers Still In Second At MWC Championships

The Colorado State swimming and diving team is still in second place heading into the final day of the Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Rams trail Brigham Young by 74.5 points with only seven events to go. UNLV is in third followed by Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Air Force and San Diego State.
Colorado State senior Kristen Schneider continued to shine for the Rams as she set another Mountain West Conference record in the 100 backstroke. Her time of 54.50 is also an NCAA provisional qualifying time.
Senior Katie Peck finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.93. Senior Jamie Robinson and freshman Chandra Engs both finished in the top-eight of the 400 IM as well.
Sophomore Rachelle Kula earned all-conference honors in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.17 to give her a second place finish.
Sophomore Liz Jones raced her way to a third place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.87.
Robinson came back to swim to a fifth place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Her time of 1:04.70 was just ahead of junior Lyndsey McCaslin who placed sixth with a 1:04.85.
Senior Lori Vigil garnered all-conference honors finishing third on the 3-meter board with 464.45 points.
The Rams also placed second in the 400 medley relay behind Brigham Young to close out the night?s events.
Colorado State will return to the pool in Oklahoma City, Okla. at 10:00 a.m. CST tomorrow to conclude the 2004 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships.
