9/22/2004 12:00:00 AM | General
The 2004 Colorado State University Marching Band is the largest in CSU?s history, with 243 members, a 20% increase from last year. The CSU Marching Band is also the largest marching band in the state of Colorado and the largest marching band in the Mountain West Conference. With the huge presence of the band this year, the CSU home game spirit is sure to be impacted. The band has been working on new stand tunes such as We Like to Party and a new an improved spell yell (R-A-M-S). Join us for our pregame and halftime performances at all CSU home football games at Hughes Stadium.
The marching band?s primary goal this season is to rev up the crowd with chants, cheers, and cool new tunes. The band, in conjunction with the Athletic Department, would like to encourage all of our fans to cheer in unison by teaching them the Alma Mater, Fight Song, Spell Yell, and other cheers. The band is hoping to create a dramatic impact this year in the spirit of the stadium during home games, much like Florida State does with their Tomahawk cheer. As part of the game atmosphere, the marching band performs a series of stand tunes. The tunes are performed in a rotation, with 12 offensive cheers and 12 defensive cheers. We will have signs created for the home games that will help identify the tunes and cheers. The marching band would like to promote Ram Fan participation to further encourage the CSU football team onto victory!
The first of our half time shows this year will be a swing show. This show is very different visually than any show that has been done under the direction of J. Steven Moore. The band will dance and shimmy onto the field with a drum solo. It?s hard to miss our 20 sousaphones (likely the largest sousaphone section in the Mountain West Conference!) in this show! The show will include Sing, Sing, Sing, Big Noise from Winnetka, and When a Man Loves a Woman. The second show will be tribute to Ray Charles, featuring I Can?t Stop Loving You, Shake a Tail Feather, One Minute Julep, America the Beautiful, and Georgia. Each show contains intricate drill designed by J. Steven Moore specifically for our marching band. This drill adds even more of a dramatic impact to the marching band?s field presence and is sure to entertain the crowd.
The next CSU Marching Band performance will be at the CSU vs. Montana State Football game at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes Stadium. Wear your green and gold and come Catch the Spirit of the CSU Marching Band!
