Frogs Leap Over Rams in Season-Opener

Fort Collins, Colo. - The Colorado State University swimming and diving team fell to conference newcomer TCU by a final of 152-91 Thursday evening at Ram Pool.
The Rams started strong with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay by Amy Abrams, Alyson Agger, Rachelle Kula and Elizabeth Jones to begin the meet. However, TCU went on to capture first place in the rest of the events with the exception of the 1-meter diving event, in which CSU divers Elyse Hall and Karin Knudson finished 1-2. Hall and Knudson also finished second and third in the 3-meter diving event.
Junior Taylor Felton picked up a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle, posting a time of 10:41.54. Jones and Knudson also finished second and third with times of 24.51 and 24.75, respectively in the 200 freestyle. Jones scored a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.59.
Lyndsey Cox. Abrams and Abigail Iler finished 2-3-4 in the 200 backstroke with times of 2:08.70, 209.33 and 2:12.57, respectively. In the 500 free, Chandra Engs and Tara Staley finished just off the pace with times of 5:13.14 and 5:13.69 for second and third place honors. The Rams behind Alina Roberts, Lyndsey Cox, Stephanie Meyer and Brette Winegarner also posted a second-place finish in the 200 free relay.
Next up, the Rams will host the Early Bird Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Edora Pool and Ice Center (EPIC) in Fort Collins.
