Up Next On The Blocks...
Colorado State will compete against Wyoming at 5:00 p.m. MT in Laramie, Wyo. on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The meet time was moved due to class conflicts. The Rams enter the meet with Wyoming with a 39-2 record all-time against the Cowboys. Last season the Rams lost to the Cowboys 105-138.
Rams Set Pace At Speedo Cup...
The Colorado State swimming and diving team set season bests in 12 individual events and two relays at the Speedo Cup in Long Beach, Calif. The Rams improved all five of the top-tive times in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. Colorado State placed eighth overall with 451 points. The Rams finished behind two conference foes in Brigham Young and Air Force.
Jones Freestyle Frontrunner...
Liz Jones holds the top times for the Rams in both the 50 and the 200 freestyle. She is second on the team in the 100 freestyle. Last season Jones swam the fourth fastest time in school history in the 200 freestyle with a 1:51.31.
Staley A Staple...
Colorado State sophomore Tara Staley appears in multiple places on this season's top times list. Staley holds the top times for the Rams in the 100 (0:53.33) and 500 freestyle (5:04.95) events as well as the 100 butterfly (0:57.95). She also is second for Colorado State in the 200 freestyle (1:55.95) and third in the 50 freestyle (0:24.79).
Winegarner Backs In...
Junior Brette Winegarner set the season best times for the Rams in both the 100 (0:57.96) and 200 (2:04.91) backstroke at the Speedo Cup. Winegarner also appears on the top times list in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Mountain West Foes...
?Head Coach John Mattos has an amazing record of 106-19 against Mountain West Conference opponents. Mattos has a losing record (9-12) against only one confernce school, Brigham Young.
Apprpaching Semester Break...
Colorado State has two more dates on the schedule before reaching the semester break. This weekend the Rams will travel Laramie, Wyo. for a dual meet with Wyoming on Nov. 22. Colorado State finishes the fall semester with a double-dual in Colorado Springs, Colo. with Air Force and San Diego State on Dec. 3.
Mattos and Elliot Honored...
Head Coach John Mattos and former Colorado State standout Kristin Elliot were honored with the 2005 Hall of Fame Class on Nov. 11, 2005. Other Hall of Fame inductees include Mattias Borrman (Track and Field), Lavern (Nick) Kohls (Football and Wrestling), Sarah (Fredstrom) Secrest (Softball), and Brady Smith (Football). The other Hall of Honor inductee is Brian Bedard (Track).
