Rams Swimming Well At Lobo Invitational

Albuquerque - The Colorado State swimming and diving team is off to an excellent start after the first day of the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Rams won two of the day's six events.
Colorado States's 200 free relay tandem of Liz Jones, Lyndsey Cox, Karin Knudson and Brette Winegarner started the competition off on the right foot with a time of 1:38.62 and a first place finish in the opening event. Two events later, in the 200 IM, Lyndsey Cox (2:11.53). Abi Iler (2:14.01) and Chandra Engs (2:14.55) finished first, third and fourth, respectively.
Tara Staley posted a third place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:09.54, while Taylor Felton also recorded a top-five finish with a time of 5:13.12, good enough for fourth place. Knudson finished third in the 50 free with a time of 24.69, followed by Staley and Jones who tied for fourth place in the event with a 24.79.
The Rams also received a strong effort from the 400 medley relay teams, as the CSU A squad of Cox, Alyson Aggers, Rachelle Kula and Jones, finished in second place with a time of 3:57.99, just ahead of the B team of Amy Abrams, Engs, Staley and Winegarner with a time of 4:04.07.
Rounding out day one, CSU Divers Elyse Hall (247.75) and Knudson (233.55) racked up second and third place points, respectively, in the 1 meter diving event.
The Rams will continue action at the Lobo Invitational on Saturday. The Rams and Lobos are also competing in a dual meet.
