Swimming and Diving Wins Lobo Invitational

The Colorado State swimming and diving team rolled to a win by scoring 373 points over second at the Lobo Invitational. Northern Arizona came in second with only 948 points.

The Rams placed first and second in the 200-yard medley relay. The first team, consisting of Amy Abrams, Alyson Aggers, Rachelle Kula, and Liz Jones, swam only .57 seconds faster than the second team of Brette Winegarner, Chandra Engs, Karin Knudson, and Lyndsey Cox.

Cox brought in forty points by herself today by winning two events. Cox came in three seconds ahead of Northern Arizona's Shannon Packard to win the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.29. She outswam UNM's Tori Clarridge to win the 100-yard backstroke with at finals time of 58.80. Winegarner and Abrams finished third and fourth, respectively in the 100-yard backstroke.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, the Rams went one, two, and three with two and a half seconds separating Annsley Lujan, who won, and Aggers, who was third. Kerri Glassner was second with a time of 2:29.32. Jones swam to second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54 seconds. Taylor Felton finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:53.78.

The Rams were second in the 800-yard freestyle relay with Kula, Felton, Chandra Engs, and Tara Staley and were third in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Staley, Jones, Winegarner, and Tiffany Thompson.

In diving, Elyse Hall finished second in both the three-meter and the one-meter dives. Karin Knudson finished third in the one-meter and fourth in the three-meter.

The Rams come home on November 10th to face Northern Colorado at 6:00 p.m. MT.
