Swimming To Host Triple-Duel Meet Saturday

Air Force, San Diego State, and New Mexico (Triple-Dual) Up Next...
The Colorado State women's swimming and diving team will compete in its first conference meet of the 2006-2007 season. The Rams will play host to Air Force, San Diego State, and New Mexico at Edora Pool and Ice Center (EPIC) on October 28th. The meet will start at 3 p.m.
Rams Win Early Bird...
The Rams hosted and won the Early Bird Invitational this past Saturday with a final point total of 1,339.50. Colorado State took first place in the 400 and 800 yard freestyle relays. The Rams were impressive in individual competition as well. Freshman Jennifer Muniz (4:40:18) won the 400 yard individual medley, freshman Carmen Cianci (1:54:88) won the 200 yard free style, and senior Brette Winegarner (2:07:82) won the 200 yard backstroke.
Freshman Diver Takes Title at Early Bird ...
Colorado State freshman diver, Nicole Kelley, won the 1-meter diving competition in the first meet of her collegiate career. Her final point total was 259.85. The impressive freshman also placed third in the 3-meter diving competition. Rams junior Elyse Hall took home third place honors in the 1-meter diving competition and 2nd place honors in the 3-meter.
6-for-13 in Individual Events...
Of the 13 individual events at the Early Bird Invitational, the Rams won six of them. Alina Roberts won the 50 yard freestyle, Jennifer Muniz (400 yard individual medley), Carmen Cianci (100 and 200 yard freestyle), Brette Winegarner (200 yard backstroke), and Vicki Curtis (200 yard breaststroke).
Neck and Neck...
In many of the events at the Early Bird Invitational, Colorado State had more than one swimmer place in the top five. In the 400 yard individual medley, Muniz took home top honors with senior Chandra Engs placing third and Annsley Lujan placing fourth. In the 100 yard backstroke, Lyndsey Cox placed second followed by Brette Winegarner, Molly Myers, and Alina Roberts to round out the top five. In the 200 yard backstroke, Winegarner took home first place, Cox placed second, Amy Abrams placed fourth followed by Myers.
