Denver Up Next...
The Colorado State swimming and diving team will travel not to far south to take on the Pioneers of Denver University. The Rams are coming off a close victory over TCU and look to start 5-0 on the season. The meet is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 14 and will begin at 4 p.m. MT.
Rams Edge Horned Frogs in Fort Worth...
The Rams went on the road for the first time in the 2006-07 season and pulled off a close 156-144 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs. As expected the meet was very close. The two teams were listed as 4 and 5 in the pre-season rankings (TCU being 4th and Colorado State close behind at 5th). With this win in Fort Worth, the Rams have a conference record of 4-0 and sit alone at the top of the Mountain West Conference standings.
Senior Winegarner Still Dominating Backstroke Competition...
Senior Brette Winegarner won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke competition for the second consecutive meet. Winegarner blew away the competition by more than two seconds in the 100-yard with a finishing time of 57.86. Colorado State's Amy Abrams finished second with a time of 1:00.04. Winegarner's winning time in the 200-yard backstroke was 2:05.85.
Rams Put Up Solid Time in 200 Medley Relay...
Winegarner started the first leg of a victorious 200 Medley Relay for CSU but she got plenty of help the rest of the way. Freshman Victoria Curtis and Juniors, Tara Staley and Alina Roberts finished the race for the Rams. The four girls finished the relay with a season best time of 1:49.13.
Knudson Impressive on Diving Board and 50-Yard Freestyle...
Junior Karin Knudson posted her best finish for diving in the 2006-07 season. She finished in second place in 1-meter diving with a final point total of 231.83 and placed fourth in 3-meter diving with 234.08 points. Knudson was also impressive off of the diving board. She placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 24.59
