Ram Swimmers in Sixth at MWC Championships

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Freshman Lyndsey Cox finished second in the 100 Backstroke to lead the Colorado State swimming & diving team in the third day of the Mountain West Conference Championships in Oklahoma City Friday.

CSU began the day with a 16th-place finish by Annsley Lujan in the 400 IM (4:35.33) before Rachelle Kula (57.25) and Tiffany Thompson (58.62) finished ninth and 15th, respectively in the 100 Butterfly.

Senior Liz Jones recorded her second top five finish with the fourth spot in the 200 Freestyle (1:52.12) while fellow senior Taylor Felton came in 15th with a 1:54.36.

Alyson Aggers (1:07.11) came in 13th in the 100 Breaststroke followed by Lujan (1:07.80) in 15th and Chandra Engs (1:07.83) in 16th. In the 100 Backstroke, Cox (56.57) was followed by Brette Winegarner (57.77) in seventh and Stephanie Meyer (58.18) in ninth while Amy Abrams (58.99) came in 15th.

CSU sits in sixth place with 255.5 points with the University of Utah leading the event with 458 points.

The 2006 MWC Swimming & Diving Championships conclude on Saturday in Oklahoma City.
