Swimming and Diving Signings

Colorado State University's head swimming and diving coach John Mattos has announced that seven athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to compete at Colorado State University in the 2006-07 season. Among the seven who signed with the Rams, five are swimmers and two are divers.

Carmen Cianci a freshman from Plantation, Fla., is a potential conference finalist in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle as well as the 200 backstroke. An all-American in the 400 Freestyle Relay for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Carmen should compete for a spot on Colorado State's freestyle team next year.

Vicki Curtis is a freshman from Guelph, Ontario, Canada. As a Canadian Nationals qualifier in the 100-meter breaststroke, Curtis has the potential to bring great speed to Colorado State's breaststroke medley relay team.

Nora Kennedy is a freshman from Fort Collins, Colo. Under the direction of former CSU swimmer Lissa Fischer at Fort Collins High School, Kennedy has the potential to be outstanding butterfly and freestyler for the Rams. Kennedy took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.02 in the Colorado State High School Championships this past winter and took first at conference in the 100 butterfly and setting a conference record in the event. Kennedy has also been under the direction of FAST Coach Bill Spahn.

Shaelen Quigley, another Colorado resident, is a freshman that is from Highlands Ranch and attended Mountain Vista High School. Quigley was also a finalist in the Colorado State High School Championships placing sixth in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 breaststroke. Quigley comes from Coach Matt Beck's Highlands Ranch Swim team.

Molly Meyers is a freshman from Arvada, Colo. And attended Ralston Valley High School. She was an all-Jefferson County League performer in the 200 medley relay, 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay and has the ability to be an immediate asset to Colorado State's team. Meyers is from Coach Brett Stoyell's North Jeffco Swim Team.

Diver Nicole Kelley is a freshman from Brighton, Colo. Kelley, a powerful diver, was conference champion for Brighton High School and placed third in the High School State 5A Championship. Kelley brings one of the highest degree of difficulty lists into the conference her first year.

Diver Kristie Bowdler comes from Grossmount Junior College transfer from San Diego, Calif. Bowdler was voted as a two-time Junior College All-American on the 3-meter board. She also finished second in the California Community College State Championships. Water Polo Signings

Colorado State University's head water polo coach John Mattos has announced that four players have signed National Letters of Intent to compete at Colorado State in 2007.

Krystyna McCright is a freshman from Poway, Calif. She is known for her competitiveness and strength in the goal and was a two-time all-CIF first team selection at goalie. With Krystyna's competitive nature and outstanding defensive skills, she has the potential to replace graduating senior Holly Stanfill and compliment returning goalie Andrea Lugo in goal next season.

Freshman Kathleen Armstrong, also from Poway, Calif., is a 2-meter defender and is noted to be an excellent drive defender. For two years, Kathleen was her team captain and high school academic all-CIF selection.

"Both Armstrong and McCright will be great additions to the team since they have previously played successfully in high school", said Mattos of the Poway products.

Shannon Kohl, an incoming freshman from Jenison, Mich., is a two-time member of the prestigious Midwest Zone Water Polo team and an all-OK Rainbow Conference Team selection. "Shannon has great defensive skills and is able to shoot the ball very well", said Mattos.

Kailin Custy, a Denver native, marks the fourth player to join Mattos' team. She will graduate from St. Mary's Academy. "We are excited to have her on the team because she is very coachable and is excited to be part of the team."
