Cross Country Men Head To Minnesota

Roy Griak Invitational: The men's team will compete this weekend at the annual Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota. Over 350 institutions and 4,000 athletes are expected to compete.

Women Win BYU Autumn Classic: The women's team defeated BYU for the first time in Mountain West history en route to a first-place finish at the BYU Autumn Classic. The women's team scored 29 points, while the Cougars tallied 45. The Rams' men's team was second behind BYU, 21-47. Junior April Thomas finished second in the five-kilometer course with a time of 18:26.7, while senior Danielle Korb was fourth overall and third in the scoring with a time of 18:36.0 and sophomore Kristen Hemphill was ninth overall and seventh in the scoring at 19:04.3. Sophomores Heather Loseke and Kirsten Anthony rounded out the scoring in eighth and ninth places, respectively with time of 19:07.9 and 19:10.2, respectively. Sophomore Jeremy Freed paced the men's team with a fifth-place finish, completing the four-mile course in 20:16.5. Junior Ryan Kirkpatrick was right behind Freed in sixth with a time of 20:22.1, while Nelson Palacios was 12th overall and 11th in the scoring with a time of 20:42.7. Junior Andres Urbina placed 15th overall and 12th in the scoring after clocking in at 20:51.5. Sophomore Steve Swartz finished the scoring in 13th at 20:52.4.

Women Picked Second, Men Third: In a vote by the Mountain West Conference cross country coaches, the Colorado State women's cross country team was predicted to finish second, while the men were picked third.
The women's team received one first-place vote and 56 points to finish behind defending champion BYU's 64 points. New Mexico (49) was picked third, while Wyoming (41) was fourth and Air Force and San Diego State tied for fifth with 28 points each. Utah (26), TCU (22) and UNLV (10) rounded out the voting.
For the men, BYU was picked to win with five first-place nods and 25 points, while Air Force was second with 20 points and the Rams were third with the final first-place vote and 18 points. Wyoming (12), New Mexico (10) and TCU (5) rounded out the voting.
