Utah and BYU Next...
The Colorado State swimming and diving team will resume the 2006-2007 season this Thursday night. The Rams play host to Utah at 5 p.m. on Thursday and get right back at it on Friday night at 6 p.m. when the Rams welcome BYU. Both meets will be held at Ram Pool.
2007 Preview...
The Colorado State swimming and diving team finished the fall with a victory in the Early Bird Invitational and four wins and no losses in Mountain West Conference dual meets. The Rams plan on carrying that momentum into the second half of the season.
This year's squad is led by Brette Winegarner and Chandra Engs. The two are the only seniors on the 2006-2007 roster and are the team captains. Winegarner has done her part so far by dominating almost every backstroke event imaginable while Engs continues to do very well in the 200 IM. Winegarner and Engs both return this season with All-Conference honors from the 2005-2006 season.
One would think that a very young and inexperienced Ram team would be down this season but the team has handled themselves well thus far.
"I didn't think they (freshmen) could handle the pressure at this level so quickly but they have done very well," Coach John Mattos said, "They have helped us get to the situation we are in now."
