The visiting Utah Utes beat the Colorado State swimming and diving team 180-120 on Thursday night at Ram Pool. Utah won 13 of the 16 total events.
In the first meet back from semester break Rams senior captain Brette Winegarner continued her dominance in the 100-yard backstroke. She finished in first place in the event with a final time of 58.18. Teammate MacKenzie Brown finished the event in third place with a final time of 59.74. The pair combined for 12 points for Colorado State in the event.
Winegarner stole the show in the 200-yard backstroke as well with a finishing time of 2:06.76. Freshman Molly Myers followed three Utah swimmers and finished in 5th place.
In diving, junior Elyse Hall scored a 260.85 in the 1-meter diving and a 284.10 in 3-meter diving. Both scores were good enough for second place in each event.
The loss gave the Rams their first conference loss of the season. Colorado State is now 4-1 in Mountain West Conference duals. The squad will look to improve that record to 5-1 tomorrow night when the Rams play host to BYU at 6 p.m. at Ram Pool.
