The Colorado State University swimming and diving team stumbled twice on Saturday in a double dual meet with conference foe UNLV and UC Santa Barbara in Las Vegas, Nev. The Rams fell to the Rebels, 127-108, while the Gauchos handed CSU a 174-67 set back.
Senior Brette Winegarner continued her domination of the 100 backstroke event, taking home top honors with a time of 57.84 to capture the victory for CSU. She was the only swimmer to win an event for the Rams during the meet.
However, a trio of CSU divers, juniors Elyse Hall and Karin Knudson and freshman Nicole Kelley, dominated the diving events. The Rams finished in the top-three spots in the 3-meter event, led by Hall who posted a score of 274.80, followed by Knudson (257.78) and Kelley (243.98). In the 1-meter diving event, Kelley took home the victory with a score of 252.08, while Hall (247.35) placed second and Knudson grabbed fourth place (240.83).
The Rams are now 6-4 overall in dual meet action, and fall to 4-3 in the Mountain West Conference.
Next up, the Rams return to Moby Pool for Senior Recognition Night at their final dual meet of the season against rival Wyoming on Feb. 2 at 5 p.m.
