FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Cross Country Head Coach Bryan Berryhill has earned the Mountain Region's Women's Coach of the Year award, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Friday.

Berryhill's athletes defeated a strong field, including national powers Colorado and BYU, to win the women's Mountain Regional Saturday in Ogden, Utah, becoming the first squad in CSU history to win such a meet. The victory gave the Rams a trip to Monday's NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

He also guided CSU, ranked No. 12 in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, to the Mountain West Conference championship.

A two-time NCAA champion and 10-time All-American in the middle distances as a Colorado State student-athlete, Berryhill is one of the most recognized names in Colorado State track and field history. Last month, he also earned Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year recognition.
