The meet consisted of nine teams, constant swimming since Thursday, and seven sessions. This itinerary and lineup was enough to break any team, but Colorado State hung tough through the weekend and never showed signs of fatigue in the water.
Rice went home victorious, finishing with 1,200 points, and North Texas took second with 1,079 points. Iowa State finished in fourth place, scoring 979 points, while the Huskers earned 867 points in fifth place.
"We did very well," said Head Coach John Mattos. "We almost pulled it out, but we couldn't quite get North Texas. It was fun, and the kids did great."
Michelle Price opened the final session with a win in the 200 Backstroke, finishing in 2 minutes, 01.84 seconds, and Nora Kennedy placed fifth in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:06.71. Briley Ochs took fourth in platform diving, scoring 193.45 points.
The Husker Invite caps off the Colorado State swimming and diving fall season. The Rams will head to San Diego, Calif., in January for training camp, and their season will resume competition on Jan. 15 with a conference dual against Utah at Moby Pool.
