DENTON, Texas—CSU’s swimming and diving team concluded its weekend Texas road trip Saturday, finishing with two wins and two losses at the Mean Green Duals, hosted by the University of North Texas at the Pohl Recreation Center.
The Rams registered wins over New Mexico State (160-140) and North Texas (189-111), but lost to nationally ranked SMU (207-93) and nationally ranked Arkansas (210.50-89.50).
“We held our own,” said Head Coach John Mattos. “We beat the teams we were supposed to beat.”
These were the Rams’ first non-conference duals of the season, giving them a 6-3 overall record and a 4-1 Mountain West Conference record.
Sam Dole shaved off another .07 seconds off of her 50 Freestyle time (24.01), and Breann Fuller is continuing to dominate in the water in the 100 Backstroke (57.86) and 200 Backstroke (2:04.10), finishing second in both events. Also, Jen Muniz put up stellar efforts in the 100 (59.17) and 200 (2:08.93) Fly, as well as the 200 IM (2:08.90).
“Jen was tough,” added Mattos. “She was keeping everybody pumped up, and she would just go out hard and early.”
Colorado State’s next competition is the Husker Invite in Lincoln, Neb., Nov. 20-23.
