FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After a week off to recharge their batteries, the men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action this weekend, as Colorado State University hosts the second annual Colorado State Classic at Hughes Stadium on Saturday.

Coming off a very successful start to the season, with each team earning the overall victory at the Wyoming Invitational two weeks ago, both the men’s and women’s teams look to impress on home turf.

“We are very excited to host the second annual CSU Classic,” Head Coach Bryan Berryhill said. “We have some great teams coming in this year. Western State from down in Gunnison and the University of Utah’s women’s team should provide some great competition. We also have a lot of great teams with wonderful traditions from other parts of Colorado that will make this meet extremely competitive.”

In addition to the college men and women’s races, the CSU Classic will also host a community race, which begins at 8:30 am. This provides competitors the opportunity to test themselves on the same course as collegiate athletes. Sign up takes place at the Runners Roost.

After the community race, the college races will get under way. The women’s 5K race begins at 9:30 am, and the men’s four-mile race will start at 10:15. In addition to Colorado State, Western State, and the University of Utah women, the race will consist of teams from the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado College, the Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Fort Lewis College.
