MWC swimming and diving preseason coaches' poll released

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- For the past four seasons Colorado State University has been picked by the MWC preseason coaches’ poll to finish fifth in the conference. This year things did not change. The Rams garnered 38 total points for a predicted fifth-place finish in the 2009-10 season by the MWC preseason coaches' poll released Thursday.
Finishing at the top of the poll by earning seven first-place votes and 63 total points is the defending conference champions, BYU.
Coming in behind the Cougars is UNLV with one first-place vote and 54 total points. San Diego State and, CSU rival, Wyoming are picked third and fourth, respectively. The Aztecs received one first-place vote and 49 points; the Cowboys totaled 42 points.
Rounding out the bottom half of the poll is Utah in sixth (30), TCU in seventh (25), New Mexico in eighth (14) and Air Force in ninth (9).
The Rams open the 2009-10 season with the DU Relays at El Pomar Natatorium on Saturday.
