FORT COLLINS, Colo. - CSU sophomore Ellie Rastall and senior Kristen Hemphill have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division-I All-Regional Team, the organization announced recently.
Rastall and Hemphill earned the honors by finishing in the top 25 at the regional race, which took place Nov. 14 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Both were the main cogs for the Rams this season, with Rastall staying consistent throughout and Hemphill coming on strong late. Each had very good performances in the regional meet, as they both solidified a spot on the regional team and qualified for the NCAA championships. Hemphill finished in 10th place with a time of 21 minutes, 16.3 seconds, while Rastall finished 13th overall with a time of 21:19.4.
This marks the second straight year, in only two years of competition, that Rastall has made the all-regional team. This is the third time Hemphill has been honored; she also made the team as a freshman in 2005 and as a junior in 2007, she had a medical hardship waiver in 2008.
This honor is one of the last accomplishments in Hemphill's great career, as she has played a huge role for the Rams cross country team in her four seasons of competition. For Rastall, it is just another stepping stone toward furthering her career and helping the women's team get back to being a dominant force.
