FORT COLLINS, Colo. - After Colorado State's swimming and diving teams had an astounding season, taking second in the Mountain West regular season, CSU diving has announced the addition of three new student-athletes for the 2009-10 roster.
Diving coach Kevin Witt announced Wednesday that Roya Asin, Chelea Kelly and Madeline Mitchell have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Rams in the upcoming season.
"Both Asin and Kelly come from the same club team with the same coach," said Witt. "They're both good friends but they're different physically."
Asin, a native of Phoenix, Ariz. who comes to CSU from Chaparral High School, has also competed for USA Diving and will give the Rams a bigger threat in competition.
Kelly, also from Phoenix, Ariz., and Mitchell out of Seattle, Wash., are both extremely strong off the springboards and should help CSU score points where it did not last year. Mitchell has experience with tower dives, which is something she could be doing for the Rams right away.
"All three are real hard workers and good students, and they're really excited to come to CSU," said Witt. "They all have hard-working attitudes, and I'm real excited for them to start with us."
