CSU's Solomon wins MWC weekly honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State junior Shayna Solomon has earned the Mountain West Conference's Diver of the Week honor, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Solomon, a communications studies major from Huntington Beach, Calif., posted two NCAA zone-qualifying scores on the 1-meter springboard over the weekend. On Thursday at TCU, the junior scored a career-best 288.08 on the 1-meter board to qualify for the postseason. She also tallied a mark of 269.93 to lead all divers on the 3-meter springboard. Solomon won the 3-meter event at UNLV on Saturday with 269.48 points, and earned NCAA zone qualification with a second-place finish of 271.13 on the 1-meter board.

The Rams are back in action this weekend, splitting their squad between the Arena Invitational (formerly the Toshiba Cup) in Long Beach, Calif., Thursday-Saturday, and Saturday's CSU Invitational at home with UNC. Saturday's Moby Pool meet begins at 10 a.m. Parking and admission are free.
