Cross country recap: CSU struggles at Mountain Regional

PROVO, Utah. -- Colorado State’s men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the NCAA Mountain Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday at East Bay Golf Course.
Nicole Peters (21 minutes, 30.5 seconds) and Ellie Keyser (21:48.6) helped lead the women to a fifth-place finish out of 19 teams in the 6K race. Peters placed 15th, and Keyser finished 24th overall.
The men’s team finished 10th out of 17 teams. Colorado State was guided by Spenser Lynass (31 minutes, 20.7 seconds), who placed 28th overall in the 10K race.
“Both teams finished where we were ranked going in,” said Head Coach Bryan Berryhill. “It was an average-to-good day overall.”
Brigham Young won the men’s competition. New Mexico and Colorado dominated the women’s race, tying for first. All three teams will automatically advance to the national meet . The other teams will be announced Sunday, no later than 7 p.m.
“I did want a better finish with both teams,” said Berryhill.
