ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Two former Colorado State stand-out athletes, Janay DeLoach and Loree Smith were honored Sunday for their performances at the 2011 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

DeLoach won the U.S. long jump championship, with a world-leading mark of 22 feet, 11.25 inches. In addition to competing, DeLoach is also an assistant coach for the Colorado State track and field program.

Smith took runner-up in the weight throw, with a season-best toss of 72-06.5.

Both athletes continue to train with the Rams.

“It’s good for our athletes to see their intensity and training,” said CSU Head Coach Brian Bedard. “They are both great examples.”
