WALNUT, Calif. – The Colorado State outdoor track and field team had an overall solid performance Friday, as the Rams competed in three meets, the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., the Beach Invitational, in Long Beach, Calif., and the Cal State Twilight Open in Los Angeles, Calif.
The duo of Trevor Brown and Kelby Dias led the group of athletes competing at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing ninth and 16th in the 110-meter hurdles, with respective times of 14.52 and 14.74 seconds.
The second highlight of the day for the Rams came in the men’s shot put. Tyson Williams earned a fifth-place finish, with a toss of 58 feet, 3 inches and Ian Lettow came in 14th, with a throw of 53-11.25.
Kalie Kirk had an impressive day finishing 22nd in the 100-meter hurdles and 25th in the 400-meter hurdles, with respective times of 14.24 and 1:02.39. Teammate Lindsey Keller followed close behind in the 100-meter hurdles, placing 46th, with a time of 14.92.
Seth Butler earned a 19th-place finish in the 800-meter run, with a time of 1:50.92. In the men’s 400-meter dash, Seth Monson recorded a 24th-place finish, with a time of 48.11. Nigel Joseph took 26th in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 54.26.
In the field events, Cate Brus and Amy Medina placed 12th and 19th in the high jump, clearing respective heights of 5-07 and 5-03. Cameron Carter (177-11) took 25th and Ian Lettow (176-02) came in 28th in the hammer throw. Carter later placed fifth in the discus, with a toss of 173-07.
At the Beach Invitational, Ken Harriman recorded a toss of 165-03 in the hammer throw, earning him a ninth-place finish.
At the Twilight Open, Whitney Henderson (2:19.16) and Brandon Ribble (6-05.95) earned third-place finishes in the 800-meter run and high jump, respectively. Alix Richards had impressive performances in the shot put (40-05.03) and discus (143-08.8), placing eighth and sixth, respectively.
Competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational resumes early Saturday morning.
