COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--
After an impressive debut performance on the boards last weekend, Colorado State freshman diver Ariana Milone has been named this week's Mountain West Diver of the Week.

Milone, who competed in her first collegiate meet on Saturday at Denver, won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

"It's an exciting honor for Ariana," Head Diving Coach Kevin Witt said. "She competed well on Saturday, so I'm proud of her and excited to see what else she's able to do this season."

In the 3-meter event, her score of 316.73 not only ranked her first, but it qualified her for NCAA Zones and set a new pool record at El Pomar Natorium, home of the Denver Pioneers. The score was within eight points of CSU's all-time record.

On the 1-meter boards, Milone was equally impressive, scoring 277.73 points, which also qualified her for NCAA Zones and broke the pool record. On the day, all five of CSU's divers scored above Denver's lone participant.

Milone, a freshman from The Woodlands, Texas, was a finalist at the 2011 junior nationals and the 2011 senior zone meet. Her major at CSU is undeclared.

The award is CSU's first since Shayna Solomon earned the honor during the week of Nov. 23 last year.
