FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Junior Colorado State cross country runner Whitney Henderson was given an All-Region distinction by the USTFCCCA Monday after finishing 20th at the NCAA Cross Country Mountain Regional Friday. Henderson led the Colorado State women’s team by finishing in 21 minutes, 10 seconds for the 6,000 meter race. Four other women’s runners from the Mountain West Conference earned the honor, as it was awarded to the top 25 men’s and women’s runners from each NCAA regional. The four other MW women’s runners to earn the honor all came from New Mexico, as did all five of the MW men’s runners to receive award.

Henderson’s time of 21:18.0 was her second best in a 6,000 meter race this year, as she finished in 21 minutes even at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Oct. 12 in Madison, Wisc. It was her second straight meet with the top time on the CSU women’s squad. After a very successful cross country season, Henderson looks forward to building upon her success during the track and field season.
