FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State added a transfer student-athlete to its roster Wednesday in senior Chloe Phillips. Head cross country coach Art Siemers made the announcement.
A graduate of Mississippi State, Phillips was one of the top cross country and middle-distance runners on her team. She ran collegiate personal bests of 2 minutes, 11.13 seconds in the 800 meters, 4:24.11 in the 1,500 meters, 4:44.44 in the mile and 16:48.24 in the 5,000 meters.
"It is very exciting to have Chloe joining our women's cross country and track & field teams next semester,” commented Siemers. “Her experience in the tough SEC and extreme range from the 800m to 5000m will be a great addition to our team."
Phillips was a 2013 NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Round qualifier in the 1,500 meters, where she ran the 24th fastest time in the meet.
She is also a strong cross country runner as she placed 38th in the 2012 NCAA Cross Country South Region.
A native of Flagstaff, Ariz., Phillips attended Flagstaff High School. While there she was a 4A State Champion in the 1,600- and 800-meter runs. She held the fourth-fastest 800-meter time in the state and boasted a Grand Canyon Region 400-meter dash record.
Phillips will compete in her senior year for the Rams beginning this fall.
