FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State men’s cross country team officially earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Cross Country Championship on Saturday. This is the CSU’s second consecutive year the team will attend the national meet, which will take place on Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind.
Head coach Art Siemers and the Rams were able to determine the team made the final round immediately following the regional race on Friday, after CSU placed fifth in the 10K.
Last season, Colorado State finished 26th in the country behind a senior-laden crew of Christian Meyer, Alex Muntefering and Ben Larson. Returners Andrew Goodman and Jefferson Abbey will bring invaluable experience into next weekend’s meet.
USTFCCCA All-Region honors for five Ram runners
Five Colorado State cross country athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team after their performances on Friday. Jefferson Abbey and Jerrell Mock earned all-region honors on the men's side, while McKenna Spillar, Ali Will and Rachael Rudel made the women's team.
This is the first career award for each of the athletes, and the first for any runners on the women’s side since 2012, when former Ram Whitney Henderson made the list. Last season Christian Meyer and Alex Muntefering made the cut for the men.
To earn all-region, runners must place in the top 25 in their respective regional meet.
