COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Mountain West announced Colorado State's Trevor Brown as the Men's Co-Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday along with Wyoming's Mason Finley. This is Brown's sixth career award, and third during the 2014 season.

The Colorado Springs native set a school record at the Cowpoke Open on Saturday, winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.64 seconds. He is the Rams' first athlete to ever break the 50-second mark in the event. His time ranks as the second fastest all-time in the MW.

Converted for altitude, his time of 49.85 currently ranks fourth nationally. The senior also won the 110-meter hurdles clocking 13.91. Both of his times in the hurdling events set facility records.

He is now ranked in the top 10 in the country in both events, and continues to the lead all hurdlers in the conference.

Brown's third weekly accolade ties for the most ever for a CSU individual during the outdoor season since the Rams joined the Mountain West in 1999-2000. Former distance runner and CSU coach Bryan Berryhill also accomplished the feat during the 2001 campaign.

Colorado State will have one more tune-up before the conference championships beginning next week. The Rams will travel south to Air Force for the Twilight Meet Friday. Events begin at 1:30 p.m. MT with the women's hammer throw.
