CSU track & field ranks No. 2 in Mountain Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Colorado State men’s and women’s track & field teams enter Week 1 of the regional rankings at No. 2 in the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association’s Mountain Region, released Monday.

The men’s team compiled a total of 326.20 points, behind No.1 Texas Tech at 437.97. The women tallied 322.54 points, also trailing the Red Raiders who totaled 367.82. 

The scores are based on CSU individual performances this season. The men are led by Ben Larson and Justin Green, who each registered over 20 points for their respective performances in the 3,000-meter run and the heptathlon, ranking second.

Aaliyah Pete scored a monstrous 26.29 points for her MW Athlete of the Week winning throw in the shot put over the weekend. She currently ranks first in the region. Emily Romo, Jazmyn Webster and Kiah Hicks all rank second after notching season-best performances in the 60-meter dash, the high jump and the weight throw, respectively.

This weekend Colorado State squares off against Nebraska, Oral Roberts and UTA at the adidas Classic in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. The women’s weight throw will begin at 10:30 a.m. MT, and the running events will start at 12:30 p.m. For more information, click here.
